The Department Molecular Neurobiology of Behavior at the University of Göttingen seeks to fill one position of a Research Assistant (PhD Student) (all genders welcome). Our lab investigates neuronal mechanisms underlying learning and memory formation using the model organism Drosophila melanogaster. The molecular basis of the precise wiring, functioning and plasticity of neuronal circuits in the Drosophila brain will be analyzed. Learning-induced synaptic plasticity will be visualized using optical imaging methods. Applicants should hold an excellent University degree (Master of Science) in Biology with a study focus in the field of Neurobiology. Excellent language skills in English are required. Knowledge in programming, practical experience in the field of Drosophila Neurobiology and in microscopy techniques are also necessary.

Regular working hours will be 65% of a full position (currently 25.9 h/week) with a contract initially limited to three years. This position should be filled by 15th of June, 2020.
