Description

A Postdoctoral position to study circuits and mechanisms underlying arousal dysregulation, cognitive, emotional and behavioral deficits in mouse models with genetic alterations in the dopaminergic, noradrenergic and orexin/hypocretin systems is available at the University of Lausanne.

This work will be under the supervision of Dr Anne Vassalli in Prof. Medhi Tafti’s group in the freshly created Department of Biomedical Sciences, in immediate vicinity of the Department of Fundamental Neuroscience and the Lausanne University Hospital. Your responsibilities: You will be performing in vivo electrophysiological recordings, viral vector injections, molecular and neuroanatomical analyses in mice with noradrenergic and dopaminergic imbalance which exhibit attentional deficits and other disorders of vigilance and cognition. You will also contribute in conducting behavioral tests in these mice. Your work will aim at collecting preclinical data.

Your qualifications: You are an outstanding, highly motivated scientist with expertise in rodent behavior and in vivo electrophysiology. You have extensive experience in sleep/wake EEG, multi-site LFP/unit activity recordings, fiberoptometry, and/or opto/chemogenetics. You are familiar with standard behavioral tests assessing attention, cognitive, emotional and social skills in rodents.
You can demonstrate strong quantitative, programming and analytical skills, innovative sense, and a degree of independence.
