The newly-established "Functional Diversity of Neural Circuits" group led by Sabine Krabbe is looking for a postdoctoral researcher. We combine cutting-edge circuit neuroscience tools such as in vivo deep-brain calcium imaging in behaving mice with opto- and pharmacogenetics, anatomical tracings as well as molecular and histological techniques to understand how the brain integrates internal states with environmental stimuli to flexibly control behavioural output. We are further investigating how dysfunction of the same neural circuits contributes to psychiatric symptoms in neurodegenerative disorders.

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher enthusiastic about systems neuroscience research. Applicants should hold a PhD in life sciences/neurobiology or related fields (or be in the final stages of submitting their PhD). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in neural circuit research and prior experience with imaging and/or electrophysiology techniques. Good data analysis and organizational skills are essential. Any expertise in stereotaxic surgery, mouse behaviour or modern molecular biology approaches will be considered a plus. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills and very good language proficiency in English.

We are looking forward to your application consisting of a cover letter stating your motivation and research interests, a CV with publication list, as well as two of the usual references via the link below. Interviews will first be conducted via video conferencing, followed by a possible on-site visit to Bonn at a later time.
