Description

Postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Pam McLean to conduct NIH-funded research on mechanisms of Parkinson’s disease at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. The McLean lab studies biological mechanisms of α-synuclein aggregation and toxicity in PD and related dementias using state-of-the-art techniques in cell biology, imaging, and in vivo modeling. Specific research projects currently ongoing include investigation of mitochondrial-related mechanisms of neurodegeneration, dysfunction in synaptic vesicle recycling in PD, characterization of α-synuclein toxic species in Lewy body dementia, and drug discovery for Lewy body-related disorders.

Applications are invited from candidates holding a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. with less than five years of experience and a strong research background in neurobiology, cell biology, and biochemistry of neurodegenerative diseases. Experience in molecular techniques including cloning, immunoblotting, and cell culture is desirable, and experience in induced pluripotent stem cell culture, gene editing, and/or rodent stereotaxic surgeries is highly desirable. Candidates should have a record of impactful, peer-reviewed publications.
