Post-doctoral position in MARSEILLE/France

Job ID
27309
Place
MARSEILLE/France

Description

A 3-year full-time postdoctoral position is open at the Institute of Neuropathophysiology (INP), CNRS/Aix-Marseille University (https://inp.univ-amu.fr) to work on “MT5-MMP in Alzheimer's disease: pathogenic mechanisms and therapeutic modulation”.
The pioneering work from our laboratory shows that proteinase MT5-MMP may represent a novel therapeutic target in Alzheimer’s disease. The project will focus on the screening of biomolecules in cell cultures that will antagonize the pathogenic effects of MT5-MMP. The selected molecules will be optimized and vectorized to reach the brain in a mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease. The project involves working with heterologous cells, iPS-derived neural cells and transgenic mice, as well as conjugation of peptide vectors to biomolecules and phenotypic analysis of cells and brains.

The postdoc will be supervised by Dr. Santiago Rivera and Dr. Michel Khrestchatisky and will work in close interaction with the scientific staff of the biotech company Vect-Horus. The INP offers an internationally competitive research environment with state-of-the-art facilities at the Faculty of Medicine, a few kilometres from the magnificent seafront, the Calanques National Park and the charm of inland Provence.

Applicant Requirements:
- Hold a PhD in science, biotechnology or pharmacological sciences
- Highly motivated/qualified individual with a strong interest in neurodegeneration and technical skills in biotechnology (siRNA, peptide/VHH library screening, phage display), biochemistry (immunoblot, immunoprecipitation, enzymatic assays...), and cell culture and cell imaging.
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Leadership, organizational and social skills to work in groups and independently

Please, send a CV, a cover letter, a list of publications and 3 reference letters or contact information of former supervisors to Dr. Santiago Rivera and Dr. Michel Khrestchatisky at
