The research group for Behavioral Neuropharmacology at Leopold-Franzens-University Innsbruck, is currently seeking a creative and highly motivated PhD student to pursue research on a project supported by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).

The PhD position is available on a project investigating the role of the neuropeptide VIP in stress and anxiety mechanisms, focusing on novel approaches for the neuropharmacology of stress-related psychiatric dysfunctions such as depression and anxiety disorders. The project is fully funded, the salary is determined according to the rates of the Austrian Science Fund for PhD students plus travel funds for international scientific meetings.

The successful candidate will join University of Innsbruck’s PhD program in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Applicants are expected to hold a Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field such as Biological Science or Pharmacy. Previous experience in animal experimentation and/or molecular neuroscience is of advantage. Excellent knowledge of the English language is necessary.
