We invite applications for the newly founded Junior Research Group Neurocircuit Development and Function (NDF) for
1 PostDoc (m/f/d)
starting on 01. January 2021.
Specifically, the Junior Research Group is interested in how the maternal dietary environment and pharmacological interventions in the mother can negatively influence the development and function of key brain circuits mediating aspects of energy homeostasis and behavior.
Tasks
• Identification of altered neurocircuit development due to dietary and pharmacological interventions in the perinatal phase
• Functional analysis of changes to metabolic circuits at the molecular level
• Performing metabolic and behavioral tests to assess alterations to whole animal physiology
• Presentation of research results (in scientific journals, colloquia and conferences)
Requirements and Skills
• Excellent master and doctoral degree in neuroscience, biochemistry, biology or a related discipline
• Experience with modern molecular biological and biochemical methods (i.e. Western Blot, qRT-PCR, immunohistochemistry)
• Experience in animal experimentation, specifically with early interventions during pregnancy and early development
• FELASA certification or equivalent animal certifications necessary, also if possible to obtain prior to starting position
• Expertise in molecular biological and advanced imaging techniques
• Excellent English (in speaking and writing) and computer skills, knowledge of German is a bonus, but not required
