We are inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Dr. Beirowski (at the Hunter James Kelly Research Institute in Buffalo, New York). The Beirowski lab focuses on how glial metabolism regulates axon integrity and myelination (e.g., Nature Neuroscience, PMID 32807950 (; Nature Neuroscience, PMID 25195104; PNAS, PMID 28484008). Examples for current projects are in vivo and in vitro mechanistic studies on how metabolic perturbations in oligodendrocytes result in compromised axon integrity, and research on metabolic adaptations in Schwann cells/oligodendrocytes that support the survival of injured axons. Applicants should have demonstrated outstanding performance throughout their previous studies with their own publications. The successful candidate should hold a PhD in biomedical sciences with less than 3 years of prior post-doctoral experience, be highly motivated, and show good communication skills. Strong language and writing English skills are important.
