Searching for a postdoctoral researcher to study the diversity of neuromodulatory neurons and circuits in the brain. The project will utilize transgenic mouse models to characterize novel neuronal subtypes with single-cell RNA sequencing, viral-genetic tools to visualize and map the connectivity of brain circuits, in vivo calcium imaging to record neural activity, and various manipulation methods including optogenetics to modulate neural activity during behavioral assays. We are particularly interested in serotonin and dopamine neural subpopulations and their role in mood and anxiety-related behaviors.

The research will take place in the lab of Dr. Pollak Dorocic which is part of the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics ( at Stockholm University and is located at the Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab, SciLifeLab is a national center for large-scale life science research with an state-of-the-art technological infrastructure, including single cell RNA seq, spatial transcriptomics, and advanced imaging facilities.

The applicant should have a PhD in a relevant field (neuroscience, molecular biology, computation, data science) obtained within the last three years. Previous experience working with one of the following methods is an advantage: molecular techniques, neuroanatomy, rodent behavior and/or bioinformatics. Programming (Matlab, Python, or R) and skills in data analysis and visualization are a strong advantage. Candidates with a strong interest in learning these techniques are also encouraged to apply. The position requires very good command of written and spoken English.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Start date is April 2021, or later as per agreement.
