The Department of Psychiatry, Icahn School of Medicine at The Department of Psychiatry, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS), New York, NY is seeking 2 postdoctoral scientists to work on projects (1) to investigate and to validate transcriptional and epigenetic alterations that are associated with major depressive disorder and that are specific for microglia cells in the brain, (2) to study transcriptional deficits in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) brain in single-cell resolution. We seek scientists who are interested in applying functional genomics to study the molecular basis of human diseases of the brain. The applicant should have training in molecular biology, biochemistry, or in other relevant fields. Experience in cell culture (especially iPSCs), next generation sequencing methods, and familiarity with fluorescence-activated cell sorting is desirable. Experience with bioinformatic methods is a plus.

The postdocs will work in the laboratory of Dr. Stella Dracheva at the James J Peters VA Medic al Center (JJPVAMC) in the Bronx NY, which is affiliated with ISMMS. Dr. Dracheva is a Research Professor at ISMMS and a VA Research Scientist at JJPVAMC. We ask for a minimum time commitment of two years.
