A PhD position in cellular neurobiology (TV-L E13/65%) is available at the Institute of Cell Biology and Immunology in the lab of Angelika Hausser. The potential candidate will investigate how protein kinase D coordinates the vesicular trafficking of AMPA receptors to and within dendrites in hippocampal neurons thereby ensuring their proper synaptic localization and function. The project is funded by the German Research Foundation and part of a research collaboration with Katalin Schlett from the Department of Physiology and Neurobiology, Eötvös Lorand University, Budapest. The Institute of Cell Biology and Immunology is a leading international institution with state-of-the-art equipment, competitive projects, and the possibility to work in an inspiring collaborative environment. The position is available starting in April 2016 and funded for three years.
We invite highly qualified and motivated students with a strong interest in neurobiology, holding a master’s degree or equivalent in Natural or Life Sciences to apply. We expect theoretical knowledge as well as practical experience in cell biology and the willingness to work with laboratory mice, very good English skills, team spirit and the ability of working independently.
