Connecting European Neuroscience

Call for ideas for 2019 training activities

FENS and its partners hereby invite scientists - students and established researchers - from all domains in neuroscience, to support the FENS educational and training programme taking place in 2019, by suggesting ideas for topics and themes.

Ideas for topics and themes for the following educational and training activities in 2019 are welcome by 5 October 2017 at the latest:

CAJAL Advanced Neuroscience Training Programme. In partnership with IBRO, The Gatsby Charitable Foundation, the University of Bordeaux and the Champalimaud Foundation, FENS offers a programme of 2-3 week hands-on training courses. The advanced training courses may be either purely technical or have a topic-related focus within a framework of technical advances. The number of courses per year may vary between 4 and 6.

FENS Summer and Winter Schools, in collaboration with the Society for Neuroscience and the Hertie Foundation respectively. FENS summer and winter schools last 1 week and are focused on defined topics in neuroscience. Chaired and taught in intimate settings by invited international renowned experts, FENS schools offer a framework where PhD students and early career scientists may expand their professional horizon, get exposed to new ideas and discuss concepts of modern neuroscience in an informal atmosphere.

This call for ideas represents an open channel for neuroscientists at all stages of their career and from all backgrounds to propose topics and themes to FENS and its partners, which they consider of interest for the neuroscience community. In this manner, neuroscientists themselves can influence the direction and content of these schools and advanced training courses, offered in Europe.

Please note that the call for ideas does NOT represent a call for organisers for these educational events.

Based on the submitted pool of ideas, a dedicated selection board consisting of neuroscientists that are appointed ex-officio by the partnering institutions will select the topics and themes for the CAJAL courses and neuroscience schools that will be organised in 2019.

Submit your idea

Deadline: 5 October 2017

Disclaimer: please note that the call for ideas is not a call for organisers. Topics and ideas may be accepted entirely as submitted or may serve as inspiration, in the context of other submitted proposals, to generate related topics and themes. The organisation of educational events, however, will be appointed by the Schools and CAJAL selection board.
