Slots in NENS Courses in 2017

In partnership with IBRO-PERC, FENS has launched this initiative to support MSc and PhD neuroscience students - European and non-European - to broaden their knowledge and acquire international experience by participating in short courses organised by the NENS schools.

The FENS and IBRO-PERC stipends of 750 EUR each are intended to cover travel and accomodation costs for master of PhD students (European and non-European) interested to attend short courses outside the country where they are studying or residing.


Awarded NENS schools courses and students in 2017:


  • Psychopharmacology: from laboratory to clinic (University of Crete, Heraklion, Crete, Greece, 7-11 October 2017): The European Graduate School of Neuroscience EURON, Maastricht, the Netherlands.
  • The FENS and IBRO-PERC stipend awardees to attend the Psychopharmacology: from laboratory to clinic course are:
  •          - Camila Marcelino Loureiro (University of Sao Paolo, Brazil)

             - Tomas Paulauskas (Life Sciences Center, Vilnius University, Lithuania)

             - Rui Silva Rodrigues (Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal)

             - Marissa Giovanna Schamne (Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Brazil)

The FENS and IBRO-PERC stipend awardees for the Neural Circuit Development and Plasticity course are:

  •          - Maria Bolla (Italian Institute of Technology, Italy)
  •          - Anastasiia Korosteleva (Saint Petersburg State University, Russia)
  •          - Sara Ratti (University of Trieste, Italy)
  •          - Fahimeh Yeganeh (Shiraz Medical School, Iran)
  • Transylvanian Experimental Neuroscience Summer School - TENSS* (Pike Lake, Romania, 1-19 June 2017): SWC PhD Systems in Neuroscience, London, United Kingdom. * The amount for each of the IBRO-PERC stipends to attend TENSS is of 500 EUR, while the registration fee is fully waived for the 4 selected awardees.

The FENS and IBRO-PERC stipend awardees for the TENSS 2017 course are:

  •          - Diego Hernández (Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, Chile)
  •          - Divya Rao (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, India)
  •          - Ivana Zimová Uhrinová (Institute of Neuroimmunology, Slovakia)
  • ELECTRAIN 2017 - Extended Methods Course in Electrophysiology (Göttingen, Germany, 8-19 May 2017): Göttingen Graduate School for Neurosciences, Biophysics and Molecular Biosciences (GGNB). 
  • The FENS and IBRO-PERC stipend awardees for the ELECTRAIN 2017 course are:
  •          - Pierre Lecouflet (Université Caen Normandie, France)
  •          - Biswaranjan Sahoo (National Brain Research Centre, India)
  •          - Ana Elisa Speck (Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Brasil)

NENS exchange grants available

The NENS exchange grants of up to 3.000 EUR are meant for MSc and PhD students registered within NENS member schools or programmes. Applicants are expected to spend a period of one to three months at a NENS member school of their choice in a different European country for the purpose of methodological training.
