Description:

Postdoctoral position (f/m/d) in Behavioral Neuroscience in Stuttgart

The Research Unit “Systems Neurobiology” is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to work on a project investigating the neural basis of decision making. Pharmacological, optogenetic and neural circuit analysis methods will be combined to investigate the role of the prefrontal cortex in rats performing complex cognitive tasks. This research will be complemented by the assessment of molecular and neurochemical markers of neuronal activity. The project is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The position (TVL E13 100%) will start in Mai 2023 and needs to be filled as soon as possible.

The successful candidate should have a strong interest in the neural basis of animal cognition and a solid practical background in neurobiology. Experience in behavioral neuroscience (animal models of cognition, animal handling, operant training) including stereotaxic surgery, immunohistochemistry as well as basic programming skills and basic experience in in vivo-optogenetics, preferably documented by publications, is a prerequisite for consideration. In addition, a certificate of training in laboratory animal science (functions A/D or FELASA B) is welcome. Solid English language skills, both written and spoken, and the ability to work in an international environment are required.

To apply for this position, please send a single PDF file with a cover letter describing your previous research activities, research interests and motivation to join our team, a CV and publication list, and the name/contact information of two referees.
