The Hertie Institute for Clinical Brain Research (HIH), together with the University of Tübingen’s Neurology Hospital, forms the Center of Neurology. It is dedicated to research, treatment, and teaching focused on the diseases of the human brain.

About us
Are you interested in understanding how genetic and environmental factors contribute to disease emergence by dysregulating human brain development? We are an ambitious and creative team addressing these research questions in human brain organoids predominantly.
Your profile
We are looking for a computational biologist that will analyze multimodal datasets of human brain organoids in an interdisciplinary environment. Specifically, we are generating various OMICs datasets (scRNA-seq, RNA-seq, translatomics such as Ribo-seq) of organoids and human tissue samples, which require extensive bioinformatic analysis. You will be able to learn these techniques from an experienced lab member. The ideal candidate combines a passion for developmental neuroscience and an eagerness to learn new methods to answer challenging research questions. An excellent Master´s or equivalent degree in life science with a focus on data analysis / bioinformatics is required. Experience with molecular biological experiments is desirable.

The PhD position is funded according to standard German compensation schemes for (PhD student, TV-L E13, 65%). The start date is flexible, but preferably by the end of 2023. The working language in the group and institute is English and we welcome international applicants. We offer scientific and personal development opportunities.
