Description:

One doctoral position (E13 65 %) is available in the Molecular Psychiatry Group, Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, University Hospital in Erlangen.

The research of the group focuses on the neuronal synapse. We want to understand how synapses work, how they change during learning and what goes wrong with synaptic function in brain diseases.

This project is part of EU funded EURAS consortium, which aims to develop new treatment strategies for treatment for neurodevelopmental disorders and autism. The successful candidate will perform a molecular and behavioral characterization of a new mouse disease model and perform a treatment trial with cannabidiol.

We offer an exciting research project, a stimulating international working environment and a friendly atmosphere in a well-funded and equipped laboratory integrated into a vibrant multidisciplinary academic location in Erlangen.

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, ambitious and enthusiastic young neuroscientist or biologist with a solid background in cellular or molecular neuroscience. A strong interest in disease modelling and a willingness to actively contribute to the development of his/her research is a prerequisite. The pre-doctoral researcher will be enrolled in the local graduate school providing a wide range of scientific and soft skill training. The acquisition of FELASA certification is mandatory at the beginning of the PhD.

The project will start at earliest convenience.
