Post-doctoral position in New Orleans/USA
Position: Post-doctoral Position
Deadline: 30 April 2021
City: New Orleans
Country: United States
Institution: Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center
Department: Cell Biology and Anatomy
One NIH-funded postdoctoral fellow position is available in the lab of June Liu, Ph.D. in the School of Medicine, Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans to study cerebellar regulation of emotional state. The research focuses on synaptic and neural circuit plasticity in brain slices and the role of plasticity in emotional learning and memory. We are particularly interested in an emotional learning-induced change in endocannabinoid signaling and synaptic transmission and its effect on the activity of a neuronal circuit and learning/memory (see J. Neurosci. 31:501, 2011, 29:381, 2009, 40:3374, 2020; Nature Neurosci. 13:223, 2010; Cell Reports, 17:86, 2016; J Neurophysiol. 115:271, 2016; Nature Communications, in press, 2020.) We use DREADD technology to test the involvement of neuronal circuits in behavior, and electrophysiology, optogenetics and molecular biology approaches to determine the mechanisms and functional consequences of neural plasticity. Additional information can be obtained from Dr. June Liu (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Ph.D. in Neurobiology, Cell Biology, Physical Science or related field of study. The ideal candidate would have experience in electrophysiology, Ca2+ imaging or behavior analysis.
Qualified candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, a brief description of research interests, and contact information for three references in a single file attachment.
The LSUHSC School of Medicine in New Orleans encourages women and minority candidates to submit applications for this position. LSUHSC is an Equal Opportunity Employer for females, minorities, individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.
