Starting from 01/11/2021 the Institute of Physiology I is recruiting a scientific doctoral candidate for the duration of 36 month (in part-time, 65% of regular working hours, 25.05 hours; salary according to pay group TV-L E13). The job comprises investigations on the cellular and network mechanisms underlying the sleep-promoting effect of natural compounds. The PhD position is funded by the “Innovative Medizinische Forschung” program (IMF grant number: Z0 12 20 01) of the Medical Faculty, University of Münster (Ref.06329). In addition, the PhD student has the possibility to join the research training group of “chemical biology of ion channels (Chembion)”.

Who should apply? We are looking for a highly motivated student with a scientific master degree (in neuroscience, biology, biochemistry, experimental medicine or related fields), a strong interest in neuroscience, willingness to perform animal research, ability to work independently and as a part of an interdisciplinary team. Experience in standard molecular biology and in vitro or in vivo electrophysiology is desirable but not essential. Experience in working with rodents is a plus. The candidate must have a good command of written and spoken English.
Successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Mehrnoush Zobeiri and Prof. Thomas Budde.
