Applications are invited for a PhD position for a bright and highly motivated student in the Department of Neurosciences at KU Leuven University. The candidate will work with Prof. Koen Nelissen on a joint project with Profs. Vanduffel, Vogels and Haesler, investigating the neuronal mechanisms causing perceptual learning of biological actions and associated adult brain plasticity in non-human primates.
The project involves state-of-the-art functional imaging and electrophysiology, in combination with behavioral and reversible perturbation techniques. Candidates are expected to have a Master degree in Neuroscience, Biomedical Sciences, Medicine, Psychology, Physics, Computer Sciences or related fields. Experience with functional MRI and/or electrophysiology data acquisitions/analysis and proficient programming skills (matlab) are highly advantageous. Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written) are essential.
We offer a PhD position in a stimulating research environment for an initial period of one year, with an additional three year period upon positive evaluation. Starting date is flexible. Salary is in accordance with Belgian regulations.
