Employment Start Date: 1 February 2022

Contract Length: 1 year (possibility to extend)

Country: France

Institution: Institut de Neurosciences de la Timone, UMR 7289 CNRS & Aix-Marseille Université

Department: Team Bagamore

Description:

A 1-year (possibility to extend it further) post-doctoral position is available in the team BAsal GAnglia, MOtivation & REward (BaGaMoRe), directed by Christelle Baunez, Ph.D. The project is a rat electrophysiological study on freely moving animals subjected to nociceptive stimuli. The project will combine deep brain stimulation, optogenetic and electrophysiological techniques. The investigator will work in a team composed of Christelle Baunez at the Institut de Neurosciences de la Timone (INT) in Marseille, and external collaborators Véronique Coizet (GIN, Grenoble), Paul Overton (Univ. Sheffield, UK). The INT (http://www.int.univ-amu.fr) is a dynamic research center with over 200 scientists/staff/students that embraces a multiscale and multi-technique approach to fill the gap between fundamental and clinical approaches. The integrative neurosciences, bridging levels of organization of the nervous system within a functional approach, play an essential role in the understanding of the neural underpinnings of our behaviour and of their dysfunctions in neurological and psychiatric diseases.

A strong background in in vivo electrophysiology acquisition and analysis is required. Women and minorities underrepresented in neuroscience/medicine are encouraged to apply. To apply, send a CV, a cover letter describing research interests, as well as names and email addresses of references to Christelle Baunez <mailto:christelle.baunez@univ-amu.fr>

Review of applications will begin immediately. Deadline for application is 31st December 2021 for a start on February 1st 2022 at the latest.
