Employment Start Date: 1 March 2022

Contract Length: 2 years

Institution: Institut de Neurosciences de la Timone, UMR 7289 CNRS & Aix-Marseille Université

Department: Team Bagamore

A 2-years post-doctoral position is available in the team BAsal GAnglia, MOtivation & REward (BaGaMoRe), directed by Christelle Baunez, Ph.D. The project is a human fMRI study on decision-making in relation to social context and history of substance abuse. A motor inhibition task is used to investigate basal ganglia contribution to the effect on an observer in relation to alcohol abuse associated with altered behavioural control. The investigator will work in a team composed of Christelle Baunez, Thierry Chaminade (team Bases Neural of Communication, BaNCo) at the Institut de Neurosciences de la Timone (INT) in Marseille, and external collaborator Prof. Didier Grandjean (University of Geneva). The INT ( is a dynamic research center with over 200 scientists/staff/students that embraces a multiscale and multi-technique approach to fill the gap between fundamental and clinical approaches. The integrative neurosciences, bridging levels of organization of the nervous system within a functional approach, play an essential role in the understanding of the neural underpinnings of our behaviour and of their dysfunctions in neurological and psychiatric diseases. The fMRI research center integrated to the INT proposes excellent support from a dedicated team in all steps of an fMRI study (

A strong background in functional MRI acquisition and analysis is required. Clinical training, computational modeling expertise (e.g., machine learning) and/or experience with a second imaging modality are a plus. Women and minorities underrepresented in neuroscience/medicine are encouraged to apply. To apply, send a CV, a cover letter describing research interests, as well as names and email addresses of references to Christelle Baunez <> and Thierry Chaminade <>.

Review of applications will begin immediately. Deadline for application is 15th February 2022 for a start on March 1st 2022
