Investigation of basal ganglia circuitry

Position: Post-doctoral Position

Deadline: 1 December 2022

Contract Length: 4 years

City: Stockholm

Country: Sweden

Institution: Karolinska Institutet

The Meletis Laboratory in the Department of Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet invites applicants for a postdoctoral position focused on understanding the role of basal ganglia and habenula circuits in motivated behaviors.

The project will use neurophysiology (e.g. Neuropixels), imaging (e.g. miniscopes, fiber photometry), optogenetics, to define the function of neuron subtypes in shaping various aspects of motivated behaviors. The postdoc will benefit from ongoing collaborations to define circuit function and dysfunction in Parkinson’s disease:

The environment is deeply collaborative with many opportunities to take advantage of advances in molecular methods, large-scale mapping of circuit organization, and viral tools to genetically target neuron subtypes.

Applicants are expected to have a strong track-record in neuroscience, with experimental expertise in ex vivo or in vivo recordings, animal behavior, and data analysis.

Applicants should submit a CV incl. publications to

The position will remain open until filled.
