Description:
A research position (open rank) is available immediately to join the laboratory of Dr. D. James Surmeier and an interdisciplinary, NIH-funded group studying neuromodulation of striatal microcircuitry and its contribution to the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. The Surmeier lab is using a variety of approaches to conduct rigorous, high impact work in this area. Applicants should have expertise with electrophysiological approaches, preferably in ex vivo brain preparations. There will be the opportunity to train in complementary methods, including gene therapy, optogenetics, chemogenetics, and two photon imaging.
The Surmeier lab is located on the Chicago campus of Northwestern University (USA), which is situated in a vibrant international community near Lake Michigan and downtown Chicago.
