Description:

The Manahan-Vaughan lab hosts a vibrant and talented team of neuroscientists from a variety of scientific backgrounds that implement multidisciplinary approaches to understanding the mechanisms underlying memory. A postdoctoral position is currently available for a candidate that has a strong background in the area of wide-field calcium imaging, ideally in conjunction with  in vivo electrophysiological recordings in the rodent brain.  Focus will be on research of subcortical cortical control of hippocampal activity during learning. The position will be funded at the level of E13 (german salary system). Teaching neurophysiology within the Medical Curriculum of the Ruhr University is supported and encouraged. Competence in german is preferred. Experience with  wide-field calcium imaging in vivo in the rodents brain is required. Other facets: degree in neuroscience, or related area; competence in signal analysis and Matlab; experience in in vivo electrophysiology; research track record in this area; team-spirit and creativity.
