Science of Translation: Optimizing Animal Models for Neuropsychiatry

Cologne, DE

Attendance type(s): In Person

Event Dates: 24—25 May 2018

It is a great pleasure to announce the Science of Translation: Optimizing Animal Models for Neuropsychiatry conference taking place in Cologne, Germany on May 24-25, 2018.
Translational research is an effective application of new knowledge, mechanisms, and techniques generated by advances in basic science research into new approaches for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. It ties all scientists and specialties together- biologists, clinicians, from physiology to big data, granting a fantastic opportunity to share diverse views, solutions, and expectations for the future. Using multidisciplinary approaches when designing preclinical projects optimizes their translation from bench to bedside. In order to be accurate, strong, reliable and adequately-characterized animal models are needed to pioneer new therapeutic strategies that can, in turn, be implemented in the clinic. This is of utmost importance in the field of neuropsychiatric disorders.
The goal of this conference is threefold: 1) to advocate for the better use of animal models; 2) to provide a platform to openly discuss limitations and strengths of upcoming strategies in neuropsychiatric preclinical research, and; 3) to create an environment that will stimulate networking and the formation of future, long-lasting collaborations. This conference will serve as a vehicle to big breakthroughs and improved translational endeavors with potential to revolutionize our field.
