Post doctoral position spatial navigation in non human primate

Position: Post-doctoral Position

Deadline: 31 January 2024

City: Lyon

Country: France

Institution: Institut des Sciences Cognitives

Department:

Description:

The Neuroprime Lab at the University of Lyon, France (www.neuroprime.org) is seeking talented and motivated candidates for a post doctoral position. We are interested in the transformation of sensory information from visual to spatial representations by characterizing processes upstream the hippocampus in posterior cingulate cortex and retrosplenial cortex in the macaque monkey. We use virtual reality as a mean to control visual input and conduct behavioral analysis (eye movements and navigation) to understand whether and how space is constructed, and supported by neuronal properties.

Ideally you have a background in Neuroscience and/or computer sciences/programming, and experience in neurophysiology,  data analysis, and working with non-human primates.

The work entails participating to experimental designs, conducting experiments in macaques in VR, and performing data analysis. Individuals with interest in spatial navigation and sensory/cognitive processing are encouraged to apply. Excellent statistical skills and computational modeling are a plus.

The Lyon institute of cognitive sciences is part of a rich multinational community in a strategic central place in France for neurosciences.
