Postdoc in systems neuroscience
Position: Post-doctoral Position
Deadline: 31 July 2024
Contract Length: 2 years
City: Madrid
Country: Spain
Institution: Instituto Cajal @ Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC)
Department: Functional and systems neuroscience
Description:
A postdoc position is available under the supervision of Pablo Jercog at the Department of Functional and Systems Neurobiology of the Cajal Institute (https://cajal.csic.es/en/home/) of the Spanish Research Council (CSIC). The project aims to develop a new framework for the analysis and interpretation of animal behavior and electrophysiological data (https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fnbeh.2020.00064/full). Such analysis of the data will involve different models that will be based on reinforcement learning, stochastic decision processes, and history-dependent biases of a large range of time scales from seconds to months. Our lab is part of a larger interacting network of
computational/cognitive/systems neuroscience labs in Spain (http://www.barccsyn.org), and also the novel center in Madrid called CINC (https://www.cinc.csic.es/research-areas/), where top scientists such as Liset M de la Prida, Alfonso Renart, Gonzalo Polavieja, and Juan Alvaro-Gallego are moving there.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in computational neuroscience or a related field. Prior experience with the analysis of animal behavior, neuroimaging, machine learning, and/or computational modeling will be valued. Financial support is provided by the Spanish Ministry of Science.
