Postdoc in computational neuroscience at SISSA, Trieste (Italy)

Position: Post-doctoral Position

Deadline: 23 November 2023

Employment Start Date: 1 June 2024

Contract Length: 2 years

City: Trieste

Country: Italy

Institution: International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA)

Department: Neuroscience

Description:

A two-year postdoctoral position in computational neuroscience and neural coding is open to investigate the role of hippocampal-dependent memory function in visual perceptual learning. The postdoc will work in Eugenio Piasini’s group at the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA), in close collaboration with Manuela Allegra at the Italian National Research Council (CNR).

Ideal candidates for this position should have a keen interest in understanding the neural bases of sensory perception, and a strong background in computational neuroscience or in a related discipline (physics, engineering, mathematics, computer science,…). Good statistical and programming skills are important, and familiarity with statistical modeling methods for large scale neural recordings is a plus. Although this role is focused on a specific project, we are happy to support the development of the postdoc’s individual research pursuits.

Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to contact Eugenio Piasini (epiasini@sissa.it) by email, including a CV, a motivation letter and (optionally) the contacts of up to two referees. Formal applications must be submitted by 23 November 2023 through SISSA’s online system (https://pica.cineca.it/sissa/ar-fe-neur-74-2023/). The starting date is flexible, but should ideally be in the first half of 2024. Any updates on this position will be posted at https://people.sissa.it/~epiasini/openings.html.
