Description:

We are looking for a highly motivated a creative postdoctoral researcher to lead a project on Alzheimer’s disease (AD) resilience and sleep. The selected candidate will join the Functional Epi-Genomics group at the Instituto de Neurociencias (IN) of Alicante (Spain) and work in close collaboration with other groups as part of an international action funded by the Pasqual Maragall Foundation.

Research project

The project aims to characterize and causally determine the molecular underpinnings of sleep-modulation of AD resilience using a combination of mouse models and human samples, with state-of-the-art electrophysiology and behavioral techniques, and single-cell epi-genetic profiling and editing tools.

Job position

Applicants should have a PhD (awarded or soon to be awarded) in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology or any other related field. A strong background in mouse handling-behavior is totally required. Previous experience in automated behavioral systems (e.g., touchscreen, Intellicage), electrophysiology, microscopy imaging, neuro-epigenetics and/or bioinformatics will be a plus but not essential. Preference will be given to applicants with a good track record in AD and/or sleep. The position is intended for a maximum of 4 years starting as early as January 2024.

The IN is a joint center between the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the University Miguel Hernández de Elche (UMH) that enrolls over 50 laboratories with more than 350 people from 20 different nationalities with full access to state-of-the-art facilities and extensive training opportunities. It houses an International Neuroscience Master and PhD program with their own scholarships, frequently organizes thematic congresses and meetings, and holds regular seminars with national and international speakers, which constitutes a highly stimulating research environment in one of the most attractive places in Spain and Europe to work and live, Alicante.
