Description:

The Morikawa lab in the Department of Neuroscience at University of Texas, Austin is seeking a highly motivated postdoc to study the neurobiological basis of reward learning and addictive disorders. This position is available immediately.

Techniques used in the lab include brain slice electrophysiology, calcium imaging, and UV photolysis of caged compounds, as well as rodent behavioral analyses, brain stereotaxic surgery for injection of drugs and viral vectors, optogenetic and chemogenetic stimulation of specific neurons, and microdialysis measurement of dopamine and norepinephrine levels.

Previous experience in brain slice electrophysiology, calcium imaging, or stereotaxic procedures in rodent brain is desirable:

The candidate should have a PhD or MD. Initial appointment will be 2 years with a possibility of extension (up to 5 years). Salary will be based on NIH scale.
