Role of stress and glucocorticoids on oligodendrocyte precursors cells during early life: implication for stress-related mental disorders

Position: Post-doctoral Position

Deadline: 14 January 2024

Employment Start Date: 1 March 2024

Contract Length: 4 years

City: Marburg

Country: Germany

Institution: Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology University of Marburg

Department: Dep. Systemic Neuroscience

Description:

The overarching goal of Prof. Treccani´s group is to understand in a mechanistic manner how stress  (especially in early life) lastingly impacts behavior and brain function at the molecular and structural level and how pharmacological and behavioral interventions can ameliorate or reverse stress-related phenotypes. In this context we are especially interested in understanding the role of a particular glia cell population namely the oligodendrocyte precursor cells during the stress response. By means of a transgenic strains we aim at deciphering how stress and the main stress hormone corticosterone alters OPC proliferation, differentiation and function and ultimately affects how the cells integrate into the neuronal network.
