Post-doctoral position on sense of self, body-brain-connections, psychedelics, and grief

Position: Post-doctoral Position

Deadline: 1 May 2024

City: Linköping

Country: Sweden

Institution: Linköping University

Department: Center for Social and Affective Neurosciences (CSAN)

Description:

Are you interested in the sense of self, body-brain-connections, psychedelics, and grief?

We are now inviting applications for a postdoc fellowship at Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN), Linköping University, Sweden.

The successful candidate will work in the group of Dr. Rebecca Boehme on her ERC-funded project “The Self After Interpersonal Loss”, investigating the bodily self experience after the loss of a loved one, and a psychedelics intervention to support people with prolonged grief disorder. The project combines functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), psychophysics, behavioral measures, computational modeling of behavior, ecological momentary assessments (EMA), and a clinical trial on the effects of psilocybin. We are therefore looking for someone with experience in one or several of these key areas who is also keen on learning new skills. You will be involved in project management, data collection, data analysis, and of course publication and knowledge dissemination. As the ideal candidate you are self-driven, inquisitive, work well both independently and in a team, take initiative and responsibility. The position offers a unique opportunity to work at the exciting cross-section of psychedelics, interoception, social neuroscience, and psychiatry.

At CSAN, we offer an international, young research environment with regular seminars and invited guest speakers. We provide great research infrastructure, including the Center for Medical Image Science and Visualization, with access to a dedicated research 3T Siemens scanner, and other cutting-edge neuroscientific techniques such as EMG, TMS, EEG, and fNIRS. The candidate will work closely with other lab members and supervise students and research assistants. We have a collegial and friendly atmosphere with regular social events. You will be able to attend international conferences and summer/winter schools.

The fellowship will be available from spring 2024, the start date is somewhat flexible. The initial appointment is for one year, with the opportunity for renewals up to a total of four years thereafter. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Qualifications: Candidates should have (a) a PhD in a relevant field (e.g., neuroscience, cognitive science, psychology, biology, biomedicine) by the start date; (b) experience and a publication record with fMRI, and/or ecological momentary assessments, and/or psychedelics, and/or computational modeling of behavior.

It will be beneficial if you have prior experience with Matlab, SPM, working with psychiatric populations, clinical trials, psychedelics research, computational modeling of behavior, ecological momentary assessment or similar type of datasets, programming skills, high proficiency level of English.

Appointment as a postdoc requires a PhD. Since this is part of an international recruitment program, the candidate must not hold Swedish citizenship or a Swedish PhD degree.

To apply please send your documents (application letter, Curriculum Vitae, publication list, diploma (if available), references / recommendations) to Rebecca(dot)Bohme(at)liu(dot)se.
