The Berto Lab and the brand-new MUSC Bioinformatics Core (BioCM) are seeking a superb postdoctoral researcher to analyze and develop scientific tools for single cell multiomics and spatial transcriptomics.
Under the supervision and guidance of Dr. Stefano Berto, the postdoctoral researcher will contribute to analysis projects focusing on single-cell omics in autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, and human brain evolution. The postdoctoral researcher will develop, utilize, and apply computational tools to analyze, visualize, and integrate both local and independent data sources. The successful candidate must be proficient in writing original code for specific applications and adept at customizing existing software tools and analytical pipelines to suit project needs.
The postdoctoral researcher will be expected to write and publish methodological articles, such as those focusing on new methods, benchmarking, or enhancements in data interpretation. They will have the opportunity to present their findings at national and international conferences. Additionally, they will be encouraged to collaborate on biology-motivated projects within the lab and with external collaborators.
Three Main Projects: CNDD (center for Neurodevelopmental disorders, NDD multiomics), BICAN (BRAIN Initiative Cell Atlas Network, primate evolution), Autism (collaborations, single cell omics).
Skills: knowledge on statistics and ML/DL/AI is preferred. Previous experience with single cell omics is a plus.

Requirements:
• PhD degree in computer science/computational biology/biostatistics
• At least 3 years of genomic experience
• Previous experience in transcriptomics, epigenomics, and genral bioinformatics are highly desirable.
• Experience with ML/DL/AI is required.
• Strong track-record of research productivity.
• Excellent communication skills, works well in teams, and demonstrates effective skills in time management and organization.
