Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neural Mechanisms of Social Cognition

Position: Post-doctoral Position

Deadline: 31 December 2024

City: New York

Country: United States

Institution: Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

Department: Neuroscience

Description:

The laboratory of Dr. Xiaoting Wu at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral fellow to join our team.

The Wu lab is focused on understanding the neural basis of social cognition. We live in a social environment and the ability to distinguish various individuals, form memories of social encounters and make appropriate decisions is pivotal to our lives. How do neural circuitries and synaptic plasticity mediate social cognitive processes? Our lab uses multi-disciplinary approaches across molecular, synaptic, and behavioral scales to investigate this question. We employ techniques such as optogenetics, fiber photometry, electrophysiology, and single cell transcriptomics to uncover the mechanisms underlying social cognition. For more information about the Wu lab please visit: https://labs.neuroscience.mssm.edu/project/wu-lab/

Qualifications:
·      PhD or equivalent in neuroscience or related discipline
·      strong skillset in one or more of the following areas: molecular (e.g. single-cell RNA sequencing), synaptic (e.g. electrophysiology), behavioral (e.g. in vivo optogenetics/calcium imaging), and computational neuroscience

To apply please send a brief description of your research experience, goals, CV and contact information for 2-3 references to xiaoting.wu@mssm.edu. We offer competitive salary/benefits ~$72,500), subsidized housing in Manhattan, and encourage applications from all backgrounds and experiences.
