Postdoc Position in Auditory Neuroscience at Single Cell Resolution

Position: Post-doctoral Position

Deadline: 30 September 2024

Employment Start Date: 1 November 2024

City: Stockholm

Country: Sweden

Institution: Karolinska Institute

Department: Department of Neuroscience

Description:

Join the cutting-edge Lallemend Lab at the Department of Neuroscience within the Karolinska Institute. We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated postdoctoral research fellow to contribute to our funded projects on the functional organization of the auditory pathways and the mechanisms behind altered auditory perception. Our studies are both basic and translational, focusing on understanding fundamental biological mechanisms and identifying new molecular targets.

The projects involve working with mouse, primate, and human tissue. Given the collaborative nature of this research, excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work in multidisciplinary teams are essential.

Your profile

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc with a strong bioinformatics background and a keen interest in using single-cell tools to understand the complexity of cell types, their potential interactions, and biological impacts within whole tissue. The successful candidate will employ single-cell technologies, including Smartseq3xpress, 10X, spatial transcriptomics, and chromatin accessibility sequencing (ATAC-seq and multi-omics), to profile the molecular identity, crosstalk, and cellular behavior along the auditory pathway under various conditions and across different species. The candidate is also expected to collaborate with international partners to integrate single-cell data with large GWAS studies. The overall aim is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the homeostatic cellular shifts in the auditory pathways underlying pathological hearing conditions.
