Postdoctoral position to study how motor-related cortical areas transform decision signals into motor commands in behaving animals
Position: Post-doctoral Position
Deadline: 31 December 2024
Contract Length: 2 years (up to 5)
City: Bordeaux
Country: France
Institution: CNRS and University of Bordeaux
Department: Interdisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience (IINS)
Description:
The Computational and Systems Neuroscience group led by F. Gambino at the IINS (CNRS & University of Bordeaux) seeks an ambitious and motivated postdoctoral fellow to study how motor-related cortical areas, together with their subcortical inputs, contribute to the transformation of decision signals into motor commands in behaving animals.
The candidate should be passionate about animal behavior research and have a strong interest in neural circuit neuroscience and data analysis/programming. The candidate must have experience in electrophysiology (silicon and neuropixel probes) in behaving animals, as well as in computation and signal processing and analysis (Matlab and Python expertise required).
The position will be funded by ERC and ANR grants from F. Gambino for up to five years.
The Gambino Laboratory at IINS (https://www.iins.u-bordeaux.fr/) offers an exciting working atmosphere, in a stimulating and international environment, in a newly constructed research building, part of the Bordeaux Neurocampus project (Bordeaux, France). The successful candidate will join a highly interdisciplinary team of neurophysiologists, data analysts, engineers, instrumentalists, and computer scientists.
For project details and all other inquiries, please contact Frederic Gambino (frederic.gambino@u-bordeaux.fr) attaching a CV, contact information of 2 references, and a cover letter motivating the research interests.
