The University Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the University Psychiatric Services (UPD) Bern ensures comprehensive and high-quality outpatient and inpatient care, as well as emergency services for the entire spectrum of psychiatric disorders in adults in the Canton of Bern. As a psychiatric university hospital, the UPD offers the entire psychiatric care chain from early detection to outpatient, partial hospitalization, and inpatient treatment, as well as rehabilitation and reintegration of people with mental illnesses. In addition, it makes a significant contribution to psychiatric specialized care, as well as to training, continuing education, and research in the field of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. The UPD is currently establishing a focus on E-Mental Health.

We are looking for an excellent researcher with a background as an MD or MD-PhD, with high professional and scientific competence in interdisciplinary and translational research in the field of genetics/genomics and molecular biomarkers of neuropsychiatric disorders. This competence is demonstrated by corresponding publications and third-party funding and should represent a new thematic focus complementary to the existing extraordinary/ordinary professorships of the clinic. Close collaboration with the clinics and facilities of the Insel Gruppe AG (e.g., Biobank and Neurocenter) is also expected. Active collaborations in national and international consortia and networks are required. A completed specialist training (human genetics and/or psychiatry and/or neurology) is desirable. The candidate is expected to establish a special outpatient clinic for pharmacogenetics of psychiatric disorders. Competence in and participation in teaching, as well as a strong commitment to promoting young talent, equality, and diversity, are expected. A high degree of integration and teamwork skills, as well as pronounced social competence, are essential. The candidate should have habilitation or be able to demonstrate equivalent achievements. Strong communication skills are expected. Good knowledge of German and, if necessary, French, or the willingness to acquire them promptly, is required.
