The role
The School of Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience at the University of Bristol is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Physiology. This teaching-focussed role will contribute to delivery of teaching and assessment on the BSc and MSci undergraduate degrees as well as the medical, dental and veterinary programmes.
This is a fixed term post until December 2029, available as a result of a Fellowship awarded within the School. The School has undergone a period of growth and has appointed nine research and teaching academic staff since 2021.

What will you be doing?
You will be developing and delivering teaching and assessment activities for undergraduate students in the general area of physiology, and supervising third year research projects. You will be providing academic and pastoral support for students, and will be taking on administrative duties related to teaching. You will be joining an enthusiastic and dynamic group of teaching-focussed academics who are actively engaged in pedagogic research and in teaching and learning communities within Bristol and nationwide. You will also be interacting with other academic colleagues within and across subject areas and with external partners. You will be committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.
You should apply if
- You have experience of high-quality teaching and teaching innovation at undergraduate level in an area of physiology (specifically renal, cardiovascular, respiratory, reproductive, gastrointestinal and/or exercise physiology), including lectures, tutorials, laboratory classes and assessment.
- You are an enthusiastic educator with an ability to stimulate and encourage the commitment to learn in others.
- You are committed to enhancing the quality of teaching and the student experience.
- You can demonstrate your ability to contribute effectively to the management and delivery of undergraduate teaching, including supervising student dissertations.
