Description:
The Novarino Lab is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows with expertise in the following areas:
- Electrophysiology slice recording
- Genomics and single-cell sequencing
The ideal candidates will possess a strong passion for neuroscience and neurodevelopment, with a demonstrated ability to engage in creative and critical thinking. A PhD in neuroscience, neurobiology, or a similar is required.
The Novarino Lab studies genetic forms of neuropsychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism, intellectual disability, and epilepsy. Neurodevelopmental disorders affect millions of people and are often refractory to treatments. Of these, a significant number have shown to have a genetic basis. With DNA sequencing being more accessible, more disease-causing genes have been recognized by analyzing the genomes of many patients. Our lab studies the effect of disorder-causing genetic mutations at the system, cellular and molecular level. In addition, we are looking into the role of genes linked to neurodevelopmental disorders to have an even better understanding of the human brain.
The Novarino group is part of the dynamic neuroscience and interdisciplinary community at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA), offering state-of-the-art facilities and a stimulating intellectual environment. Located just minutes from Vienna, ISTA provides access to a vibrant cultural scene and a high quality of life.
Interested applicants should send their CVs and motivation letters to gnovarino@ist.ac.at.
