PhD student position in “Neuroethology of pectoral motor networks”
Position: Ph.D. Student
Deadline: 26 March 2025
Employment Start Date: 1 April 2025
Contract Length: 4 years
City: Graz
Country: Austria
Institution: University of Graz
Department: Biology
Description:
Our laboratory is interested in how neuronal circuits are shaped to generate adaptive behavior. We are currently looking for a highly motivated PhD student with a strong interest in the function and evolution of neural circuits. The goal of the project is to investigate network adaptations that enable similar pectoral circuits to generate different behaviors in fish. The successful candidate will take advantage of a variety of methods including different intracellular (in vivo and slice patch clamp) and extracellular recording techniques, immunohistochemistry and neuroanatomy to investigate the differences/adaptations underlying different pectoral behaviors. Candidates with a prior expertise in neuroscience research are strongly encouraged to apply.
