Job ID: 122881
Post-doctoral position in 3D organoids to study hereditary deafness
Position: Post-doctoral Position
Deadline: 1 June 2025
Employment Start Date: 1 July 2025
Contract Length: 1-3 years
City: Liege
Country: Belgium
Institution: University of Liege
Department: Developmental Neuroscience – GIGA Research
Description:
About the Lab & Research The selected Candidate will join the Laboratory of Developmental Neuroscience, led by Prof. Brigitte Malgrange at GIGA (University of Liège), an internationally recognized group in the field of auditory neuroscience and neurodevelopment. The lab focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms regulating inner ear development, and regeneration.
Our research combines advanced molecular tools, transgenic models, stem cell-derived systems, and high-resolution imaging to investigate the signaling pathways controlling cell fate decisions and tissue organization in the nervous system. A particular emphasis is placed on understanding how these mechanisms are altered in developmental disorders and hearing loss, with potential applications in therapeutic strategies.
About the project
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our research team exploring the mechanisms of hereditary deafness using advanced 3D organoid models of the inner ear. The project will employ cutting-edge technologies including stem cell-derived otic organoids, biomimetic hydrogels, and microfluidic systems to model inner ear development and pathogenesis in vitro. This European project aims to develop a novel nanoparticle-based pharmacologic strategy for treating deafness. Among the different work packages, our lab is responsible of assessing the effect of the new formulation on 3D inner ear organoids.
