A research technician position is available under the supervision of Dr. Diana Piol in the laboratory of Prof. Maria Pennuto (https://research.biomed.unipd.it/at/neuroscience/pathogenesis-of-neurological-and-neuromuscular-diseases).
Prof. Maria Pennuto’s lab is dedicated to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, primarily polyglutamine diseases and motor neuron diseases. In particular, the lab is devoted to understand protein aggregation mechanisms, cellular stress responses, impaired protein quality control with the final goal to develop novel therapeutic strategies.
The successful candidate will be involved in an ongoing effort to investigate local translation events in the lower motor circuitry (Piol et al. Neuron 2023) and the impact of androgens in physiological and pathological processes (Piol et al. Science Advances 2023) with the application of cutting-edge technologies, including single cell and spatial omics approaches.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate with Master degree or higher, with training in basic techniques of molecular biology, cell biology, imaging and biochemistry to join an established and passionate team, dedicated to different aspects of molecular neurodegeneration. Experience in culturing and differentiating iPSC cell lines, culturing primary mouse neurons and in mouse models will be considered favorably.
