It hosts a well-equipped Neurobiology Laboratory dedicated to biomarker research for neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, ALS, and others. Casa di Cura IGEA also maintains a blood sample biobank registered with the European network BBMRI.
Role Description
Casa di Cura IGEA in Rome is seeking a full-time, on-site Postdoctoral Researcher for an initial 1-year contract, renewable, with the potential to join the European-funded project aimed at validating a novel biomarker for the early detection of Parkinson’s disease.
The Postdoctoral Researcher will have a central role in managing and maintaining the blood biobank of Casa di Cura IGEA, which is registered with the European network BBMRI. The role requires direct interaction with patients in Italian, including providing detailed information about the study, obtaining informed consent, coordinating with nursing staff for blood sample collection, and personally handling the processing and fractionation of blood samples into PBMCs, plasma, and serum.
In addition to biobank responsibilities, the Post Doc may actively contribute to the scientific research program of the European project, working in a multidisciplinary environment with 13 European partners. The research at Casa di Cura IGEA focuses on studying the biological mechanisms of alpha-synuclein aggregation and the role of post-translational modifications such as SUMOylation and ubiquitination. The work involves molecular biology, cellular biology, protein biochemistry, and confocal imaging techniques using patient-derived samples.
Key Responsibilities:
Biobank management: patient communication (in Italian), informed consent, blood collection coordination, and blood sample processing (PBMCs, plasma, serum)
Potential participation in the European research project on Parkinson’s disease biomarker validation
Laboratory research including:
Blood sample processing and fractionation
Immunohistochemistry and immunostaining on cells
Protein extraction and Western blotting
Confocal and super-resolution imaging
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biology, Physics, or related fields
Fluent Italian (mandatory) for patient interaction and informed consent procedures
Strong laboratory experience, including:
Blood sample handling and fractionation
Immunohistochemistry and immunostaining on cells
Protein extraction and electrophoresis techniques
Confocal imaging
Ability to conduct independent research and analyze complex datasets
Solid background in neuroscience or related disciplines is preferred

The starting date will be on August 2025 or September 2025  and will last for 1 year and renewable upon funds availability
Salary: depending on the skill levels and to be discussed during the interview
Contract: fixed term contract for 1 year
