The Institute of Developmental Neuroscience (Director: Prof. Dr. Ileana Hanganu-Opatz) of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Hamburg is inviting applications for the following position

Scientific Coordinator (m/f/x), salary in accordance with the German TV-L salary scale1

E13, 50-100 % of standard working time, employment: fixed-term 4 years with the possibility of extension. Start: October-November 2025

Workplace/Department:

You will be the Scientific Coordinator of the Research Unit 5159 ”Resolving the prefrontal circuits of cognitive flexibility”, hosted by the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). FOR5159 encompasses projects from neurophysiology, clinical and computational neuroscience. For details, please refer to the homepage www.for5159.de.

Your involvement will be in the field of Research Management of this consortium, including public relations and dissemination, (co-)organization of events, as well as monitoring of scientific and non-scientific reporting, budgeting, research data management, and the maintenance of good scientific practice.

Job requirements and responsibilities:

  • Controlling of research and teaching activities, monitoring of budget
  • Coordination, supervision and documentation of scientific and non-scientific reports
  • Coordination of collaborations within the consortium
  • Public relations, dissemination (homepage, social media), science communication
  • Co-organization of events
  • Supervision and monitoring of research data management
  • Maintenance of good scientific practice

Your academic qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree / PhD Natural Sciences / or equivalent

Desirable skills of the successful candidate include:

  • Very good experience with Research Data Management
  • Pronounced scientific and writing skills, particularly in science communication
  • Experience in scientific and non-scientific writing and reporting
  • Experience with outreach / social media
  • Excellent English and German language skills

1 TV-L = collective agreement on remuneration of public sector employees in the German Länder

The pay grade assigned to an employee depends on their professional qualifications and the number of years of service. Each pay grade is further subdivided into levels. Entry-level employees with no previous experience will initially be assigned a level 1 rating. After one year at level 1 of the E10 pay grade, an employee will move up to level 2. After a further two years, the employee will move to level 3, etc.
