PhD position within MSCA – doctoral network on the role of Molecular pathways of mitochondria-immune interaction in PD
Position: Ph.D. Student
Deadline: 31 July 2025
Employment Start Date: 1 October 2025
Contract Length: 3 years
City: Belgrade

Institution: University of Belgrade, Faculty of Medicine
Department: Institute of Medical and Clinical Biochemistry
Description:
The fully funded PhD position is a part of the MSCA Doctoral Network project BICEPS (Beyond neuroInflammation: new Concepts to Elucidate the peripheral immune system’s vital role in Parkinson’s disease). This PhD project aims to uncover the molecular mechanisms by which mitochondrial dysfunction, alongside changes in the activity of the key intracellular energy sensor, AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), influences inflammatory responses in PD. By exploring the interplay between cellular energy regulation, oxidative stress, and inflammatory response in PD-related neurodegeneration, we aim to identify potential molecular targets that could inform therapeutic strategies for PD-related neurodegeneration.
- Fully funded PhD position (3 years) under MSCA-DN framework
- Access to state-of-the-art training within the BICEPS doctoral network, at an academic, and industry level; Opportunities to collaborate with discipline-specific world leading researchers
- Mobility, secondments & international collaboration
- Career development in academic & industry settings
