Your area of responsibility

We are looking for a motivated and dedicated PhD student with strong interest in neuroscience. The successful candidate will investigate the mechanisms underlying the chronification of pain in different brain areas using state of the art neuroscientific techniques, including electrophysiology, opto-/chemogenetics, microscopy techniques and OMICS approaches (research using laboratory animal). S/he will be embedded in the Neurophysiology groups of the Institute of Physiology, which have long-standing expertise in pain research and the investigation of brain circuits.

Your tasks include

  • Research, teaching and administration

 

We are looking for

  • a master’s or diploma degree in neuroscience, biology, molecular medicine or related fields
  • strong interest in neuroscience and electrophysiology (research using laboratory animals)
  • programming skills in R and Python (including very good knowledge of statistical methods)
  • accurate and reliable way of working
  • strong motivation to become an independent academic researcher

 

Our offer

For the intended job group B1, GH 1, the minimum salary according to the collective agreement is currently € 39,005.40 gross per year for a 30-hour week and may possibly increase on the basis of the collective agreement regulations through the recognition of job-specific previous experience and other salary components associated with the special features of the job.
