Lab description

My group focuses on the structural and functional organization and maturation of glutamatergic and GABAergic neural networks contributing to excitatory/inhibitory balance in a translational context. To this end we assess how (epi)genetic factors affect neuronal network formation in human cellular model systems for intellectual disability, ASD, schizophrenia and epilepsy.

For our research we combine human IPS cell derived neuronal cultures, molecular, neuroanatomical, electrophysiological in vitro techniques (single/paired cell patch clamp, multielectrode array recordings, optogenetics), modelling as well as behavioral approaches, partially via intense collaborations with other research groups.
