DFG Summer School: Memory and consciousness
Tübingen, DE
Attendance type(s): In Person
Event Dates: 30 Jul—2 Aug 2014
The Summer School Memory and Consciousness Plasticity, Brain Rhythms and Sleep” is organized by young researchers of the Department of Medical Psychology and Behavioral Neurobiology of the University of Tübingen, headed by Jan Born and Niels Birbaumer, and the Transregional Collaborative Research Center “Plasticity and Sleep” of the Universities of Tübingen, Lübeck and Kiel (SFB 654), headed by Jan Born.
These research institutions focus on states of diminished consciousness and the modulation of brain states, as well as on the consolidation of memory during sleep and the underlying plastic processes. Our combined research efforts aimed at consciousness, sleep and plasticity as strongly intertwined processes are unique in Tübingen. The Summer School is intended for Masters and
PhD students as well as for young postdocs and senior scientists working in the fields of memory and consciousness who have a particular interest in the link between memory processes, brain oscillations and different states of consciousness. Our aim is to highlight the bridges between memory and consciousness at different levels of abstraction and in different species.
