In conjunction with its partners, U.S. and EU researchers and funders involved in brain and neuroscience research, Elsevier will present the findings and insight from the international Brain Research Report. The human brain is currently the focus of attention in both a scientific context and in the more popular media. Most recently, global collaborations between governments, academic institutions, and private enterprises in the EU, U.S., and Japan have taken off to explore and fund brain research on a large scale. The Brain Research Report aims to provide an overview of the state of research and opportunity in the areas of brain and neuroscience research to support these efforts. The Brain Research Report will analyze both the quantity and the quality of research in these areas over the course of a five-year period, reporting on research from China, Japan, the U.S., and the EU. Four aspects will be addressed in the report: Research output, research impact, research collaboration, and research excellence. Moreover, new methodologies will be used to conduct predictive analyses examining the movement of researchers between neuroscience disciplines, emerging research areas, and opportunities for further investment in the brain and neuroscience research. Elsevier executives, researchers, and funders will share their thoughts about the report findings and what new directions may be worth pursuing.
