FENS and partner events at the FRM 2021

Join EARA at the FENS Regional Meeting on 24 August as we discuss the need for openness about animal research in neuroscience in the media and wider public. The discussion is aimed at researchers, lab and communications staff who are currently hesitant to be open in their communications about animal research, and will present experiences and tips from leading communicators about how to get started.

This meeting aims to explore current and possible initiatives FENS could develop to support neuroscience schools in the challenges they are facing.

The meeting is open to representatives of all neuroscience schools in Europe, regardless of their NENS  membership.

This workshop will provide participants with hands-on feedback on a science communication project they would like to develop in the following three categories: online science communication, science communication for younger audiences and animal research for non-scientific audiences.

Six competitors will then be selected to compete for a chance to win a grant to fund their project!

Six competitors selected from the satellite workshop will pitch their science communication project to a jury of experts. The best three projects in the following categories: online science communication, science communication for younger audiences and animal research for non-scientific audiences, will be rewarded with a grant to fund their project.

The CAJAL Advanced Neuroscience Training Programme aims to teach basic and fundamental neuroscience concepts as well as state-of-the-art techniques, data analysis and computer skills to train the next generation of top-notch neuroscientists. During this session, Dr Elena Dreosti (Cajal Executive Director) will present the training course programme that CAJAL offers and provide an overview of how students can benefit from attending CAJAL courses online and in person. This will be followed by presentations from venue directors and alumni who will share their Cajal course experience. A Q&A will conclude the session.
